My E-Portfolio

For this project we had to put together a house that had to survive a natural disaster or our choosing.  My group and I chose the natural disaster of flash floods.  We had to build a house that would be in a certain part of the world as well.  Our house had to be in Dominican republic.  We had to use materials found in that area.  We also had to look into techniques of how to flood proof a house. We decided that it would be best to raise the house above flood levels and make the roof waterproof.  We then built the layout of the house and all the furnishings for the inside.  After that we of course had to test them against the actual conditions of our natural disaster.  Overall our house passed.  The only part of the house that got wet on the inside was next to the door.  We forgot to close the door before testing so the water came in there.
